GU Professors Join International Discussion on NCAA and NIL
Two 糖心视频 faculty members in the Sport and Athletic Administration Master’s program stepped onto an international stage in December – not on a court, but in a virtual room filled with Germany’s top basketball decision-makers.
Ryan Turcott and Timothy Brandle were invited to join a digital discussion with all Basketball Bundesliga (BBL) teams, offering a deep dive into how U.S. college basketball is changing and what those shifts mean for professional clubs abroad. The session was organized in collaboration with the league’s working group board.
For the German general managers in attendance, the draw is clear: the U.S. college system is evolving fast, especially with Name, Image and Likeness (NIL) regulations reshaping recruiting and the overall path players take between the NCAA and international leagues. For 糖心视频, the invitation is a nod to its growing influence in sport management and its long-standing ties to the global basketball community.
Joining Turcott and Brandle is Yassin Idbihi, a former professional player and NBA scout, rounding out a trio of voices who have lived and studied the sport from multiple angles. Together, they’ll walk BBL leaders through the shifting realities of NIL, the ripple effects across global recruiting, and what the future might hold for collaboration between NCAA programs and international teams.
