DIY 100% Natural Detoxing Clay Mask | Only 2 Ingredients!

My aesthetician is a serious miracle worker with my skin. So if she tells me how to do something, best believe I am going to follow directions. The last time I got a facial, Paige told me about a detox mask that she wanted me to do once a week to help keep my skin clear of buildup and breakouts.

I have a few clay masks but since they are sold on a shelf most of them aren't all natural or organic. Paige shared with me her formula for a great detox mask using only two ingredients. If you have ever wanted something to zap zits and take care of breakouts while using products that are safe for your body this mask is for you! And its great for sensitive/acne prone skin like mine.

The first thing you need is the Aztec Secret Indian Healing Clay ($8), which is 100% Natural Bentonite Clay. This deep cleans your pores and extracts any impurities and dirt from your skin. Then you mix it with raw Organic Apple Cider Vinegar ($6), this acts as an anti-fungal and astringent to kill bacteria. It also removes excessive oils from your skin, and balances the ph level that can help prevent your skin from becoming too oily or too dry by balancing the sebaceous glands (oil producing glands)! I've done it for 4 weeks now and I can already tell that my face is less oily throughout the day! Talk about the perfect thing to detox your skin! (If you have really sensitive skin you can use half water and half apple cider.) Then sit back and watch it dry up and tighten...oh and did I mention it also makes you face feel like its pulsating!
(From wet clay to dry clay. My face is so tight I can't smile haha!)

Check out the video and see how I use this amazing mask. You'll fall in love with it while it zaps the blemishes from your skin! Have fun!

Soft Spring Makeup Look || Featuring ModelCo & Boxycharm

Good day loves! Today I'm sharing a soft Spring look that is something I've been wearing for a few weeks. If you've seen my May BoxyCharm video, then you know that in this months box they worked with ModelCo to bring you a gorgeous Bronze Shimmer, and along with that they sent me an exclusive addition of ModelCo products to create a makeup look for you.

I was very excited to try out their products because I've seen them all over Instagram and youtube but haven't had the chance to try them yet. After wearing this look a number of times I've been surprised to learn that I really like each of the things I used! There are three stars of this makeup look in my opinion, first is the skin primer that is probably going to be my new holy grail primer, it creates the perfect texture to apply a flawless foundation. The second is the gorgeous bronzer that turns my skin into a warmed up glowing completion, and its hard for me to really like a bronzer...I only have two in my collection! The third star of the show is of corse the beautiful red lipstick, it's very similar to MAC's Ruby Woo matte shade but with a more comfortable wear on the lips.

I've very impressed with the whole package of ModelCo, and can't wait to discover more of their line. Have you fallen in love with one of their products that you think I should get? Please tell me in the comments and help me discover something that you love!

Sombre Root Smudge | My Hair Color!

While ombre techniques may still be lingering on peoples hair, the new trend...its much softer sister style...the sombre has taken over for a more natural effect. We are leaving behind the obvious ombre transition for a grown out soft root speckled with a few highlights that makes your hair look like its kissed by the sun.  A subtle graduation from darker to lighter that has hair color seem effortless and sexy!

What I particularly love about this hair color other then the gorgeous visual affect, is the ease it gives clients who don't/can't commit to the typical 4-6 week touch ups. The sombre is such a great blend of natural color and brightness that allows you to go up to 12 weeks without needing a major all over touch up. While some people might still need to get their hair cut or grays covered and end color toned in between appointments, the regular gigantic process of getting a thousand foils in your hair isn't a problem with this color trend. Every several weeks you can stop in for a easy touch up like you see me getting in this video. I'm obsessed with my color and can't get enough!

before & after

I hope you guys enjoy this version of how Nikki does my Sombre, using a few techniques that gets me in and out of the salon in about half the time a regular blonde color dragged me down with! Check out the video and follow along.

Formula:
Roots- Redken Shades EQ 6N (1oz ) + 6T (1oz) equal parts + Processing Solution (2oz)
Highlights- Redken Flashlift x30 volume + 1/4 oz Olaplex

March & April Favorites | Lingerie, Makeup, Hair

Can you guys believe we are in mid May right now...only a few more days and its officially summer time! Talk about a fast moving year. Not too much has been going on in my life that isn't the norm, other then the anticipation for June. I'm so excited to share that I will be working full time as a hairstylist now, I've been working part time as an assistant while building a clientele. So now that I feel comfortable I want to commit full time and take my life into my own hands. Its a scary feeling when you change positions, especially in my line of work because your paychecks depend on your clients, so this is a huge step but I'm ready to face it head on. I will always hang on to the saying that "If you're not changing then your not growing"...I'm ready to grow ;)

I have had a bunch of great products that I've been loving lately, and they will definitely help you welcome in a tropical feeling! There is also a unintentional mini haul of Adore Me sets in the beginning of this video giving you a good idea of all the cute things they have to offer! So be sure to go check that out, and have a wonderful rest of May!

Pravana Neon Blue & Green Hair Color | Inspired by Guy Tang

Welcome to Guy Tang "Alien Couture" inspired hair color! Guy Tang is an amazing hair stylist that inspires me with each and every client that he works on. He is always transforming women's hair into gorgeous works of art, every thing from Elsa platinum, to soft natural ombre, and then the eyeshocking neons! We were so inspired by his color done with the Pravana neons we had to try it out for ourselves!

Today Tara ( my gorgeous client and an assistant at the salon I work at) and I collaborated to create this perfect alien blue shadowed root to slime green ends. Something that we both can't stop smiling about! I wanted to share this quick video so you guys can see the color outcome and how well it stays true to what you see in the tube.

I have a video where I show you how I touch up Taras hair color, so please refer to that and see how I do the first couple steps. If your wanting to get a bright color you have to be working with hair at a level 10, otherwise its not going to take seamlessly with the lighter shades like neons and pastels. For the actual application of the color I want to let you know that this is a very creative color and is literally done how you want to see the color, so I don't have any specific directions on how I apply the light blue and green other then continuously blending the blue to green and putting it where I felt I want the colors to sit. I did list the steps I took to get here for a better idea of how to go about getting a true neon color!
_____________________________________________________
Step 1:
lighten hair regrowth using foils  | Schwarzkopf Blonde Me 20 volume (I also touched up her front panel of dark color around her face using Schwarzkopf 5-0 with 10volume)

Step 2:
remove any preexisting color (blue) for a clean canvas | Pravana 000 and 30 volume, didn't work because I didn't use the Pravana Developer, so I went back in with Blonde Me 40 volume and shampoo for a bleach wash

Step 3:
on completely DRY HAIR, apply a darker shadow color to roots only going an inch out | Pravana Neon Blue with a few dots of Rusk Blue

Step 4:
Balayage the lighter blue into the neon green, also add a few spots of yellow where desired (using foils is optional) | Pravana Neon Blue, Pravana Neon Green, Scruples Urban Shock Yellow

Step 5:
Wash out hair in COLD COLD COLD water to prevent colors from bleeding onto each other!!! Then Shampoo and Condition!
_____________________________________________________

I hope this helps to give you an idea of how much it takes to commit to a fashion color and how amazing the Pravana Neon shades are. I'm so impressed and can't wait to find other girls who aren't afraid to rock this alien couture style! Don't forget to show me your pictures of using the neon line by tagging me on Instagram @alexsismae!!!

Barely There Glam Waves inspired by Amanda Seyfried

There are so many tutorials on how to curl your hair, but I found myself looking for something a bit toned down and more polished! After browsing a few pictures I came across this one of Amanda Seyfried looking so effortless with her barely there wavy hair. A great style to wear everyday which can easily transition into a event or wedding look.

For this style I'm using my Nume Titan 3 wand set, a trio that  has interchangeable titanium wands to get the perfect look every time. I can go from a Taylor Swift tight curl to this gorgeous loose wave just by changing out the wand. The 32mm wand is the size I used for a larger loose wave. Be sure to check out their amazing products and use the code 2CHAKRA to get 100$ off a styling set (ends 5/31/15)!
