★NEW YEARS★ Sexy Cut Crease Smokey Eyes

In my New Years hair tutorial I wore this cut crease makeup look and actually found it really fun and pretty. So unfortunately I didn't film that part, and went back to record it so you could wear it for the holidays!
Like I said this is a cut crease eye look using mainly MAC shadows. Making a seamless and smoked out shadow is all about layering and blending out transition colors using a light hand. Be patient and use your colors wisely. I have a few different shadows that I build up to ensure a flawless look, but if you don't have the exact colors, use what you have and work on blending them out. You can also sub out any colors and make this a black and silver look if the browns clash with your outfit. Just make sure the shadows you use work together and you can do anything you'd like.
I hope you enjoy this tutorial and have a blessed New Years!!! Don't forget to check out my New Years Half Up hair tutorial as well!

Big Sexy Curled Side Bun

I've had a few requests for a Christmas party updo style, something loose and easy to manage. This is a very big messy side look that sits right above the shoulder. I wore something similar to this at my best friends wedding and really liked the look it gave me. A friend of mine texted and asked me if I could do a cute loose look for her christmas party and this is what I decided on to style for her. Shout out to my gorgeous friend Cayla
My intentions are to make something that you can duplicate at home without any frustrating hold ups. Don't forget to watch the tutorial on how to get the wand curls worn in this video as well. I hope you enjoy this tutorial and I can't wait to see everyones Christmas style!!!

How to get Wand Curls

There are a few different ways to curl your hair for multiple results. One of my favorites and a current trend made popular by girls like the Kardashian sisters and celebrities alike, the sexy wand curls.
Wand curling irons are a newer hot-tool that have become a must have…but what if you don't own a wand? You can make these curls whether you have a wand or regular curling iron, it's the way your curl it that makes the biggest difference. This tutorial will show you how I use my 1in curling iron to make these super sexy waves! Anyone can do this look, so check out the tutorial and don't forget to tell me what you think! Enjoy!

Exfoliant Tips and What to Use

Cleaning off the dead skin cells on your outermost surface of your face is very important to maintain healthy skin and the overall texture. When your skin cells die they shed and can clog your pores, exfoliating your skin can prevent that build up and shed dead cells. This shedding of the outer layer unclogs pores, keeps skin clean, and helps reduce acne outbreaks. "Exfoliation should always be done after cleansing the skin. Exfoliation is important for women as well as men as it exposes the hair follicles, allowing a better shave. It is possible to over exfoliate, which dries and irritates the skin. The face is the part of the body most sensitive to exfoliation. Hence, provided that exfoliating causes the skin to dry out, it is very important to moisturize it, because dry skin can lead to wrinkle development." (Antria Brown)

So now that we know what and why exfoliating is important, what should we use? There are a million face products on the market promising to offer the best results. As a kid who suffered with acne outbreaks I can testify for a few brands and products that I have used and learned about. Today I'm going to share with you the top three that are in my need-to-know-about list.

First is the well known Apricot Scrub by St Ives. I used this for years hoping to clean my skin. This scrub promises great benefits like
 - 100% Natural Exfoliants
- Paraben Free
- Oil Free
- 2% salicylic acid
- Dermatologist Tested
- Hypoallergenic
These seem like a great and promising benefits until you get to know it. A year ago I talked to an esthetician about the products I'd been using and the results I was getting and what I wanted for my skin. She told me that the Apricot scub is actually extremely harsh and can cause micro tears because it's made with walnut and shell indigents. So what's wrong with that? The shell and walnut shell is crushed and made into the harsh abrasive component which has sharp edges that can create micro scratches and lead to bacteria and acne. I didn't even realize that when I had pimples and used my scrub that it could open them and cause me to rub that bacteria across and into my other porse and pimples. Ew right? I stopped using this imminently and asked for a clarisonic for Christmas.

I've used my Clarisonic for almost a year now and can honestly tell you that my skin has transformed into  something I'm proud to bare. But since it is a softer exfoliant I wanted a scrub for when I needed something deeper. I have been using an alternative to the Apricot Scrub called Deep Action Exfoliating Scrub by Clean & Clear. This scrub uses Microcrystalline Wax, or crystal beads to do the deep cleaning. These beads are round and don't have harsh or sharp edges that cause irritation and tears. I love this scrub because it gives my skin a great clean and I don't have to worry about any negative after effects. It's also made with a menthol that freshens my skin and makes it feel so tingly good!

If your into high end skin care the Face Polish by Laura Mercier is an amazing scrub! I got this from Sephora in a 500 points perk gift and fell head over heels for it. The formula is a creamy but purifying scrub made with moro beads that gently exfoliate and leave your skin feel soft because of the rich emollients. This leaves my face soft and glowing, who doesn't want that?

Depending on your skin; normal, combination, or oily can tell you how often should you use an exfoliant. I'm not a professional in skin care so I can only tell you my observation of what articles recommend. I would ask your skin specialist for further details and instructions for your skin. Personally, I exfoliate 3 times or so a week depending on how my skin is feeling.

I hope this mini post helps you understand a bit more about exfoliation and what to stay away from. I know a lot of you gorgeous beauties may use and love the Apricot scrub, but if you ask dermatologists and estheticians they would recommend you to stay away from harsh abrasives like that. Try these and let me know how they work for you, and if you've tried something and love it let me know!!!

My Best Friends Wedding ♥ Cassie Ashbey

Someone who can change your life and point of view only happens once in a very blue moon. A person you can depend on and know that they will always be there for you through the thick and thin, tell you the honest truth, and that you feel completely comfortable with no matter how silly or stupid you act.

Back in August I got to watch my best friend marry the love of her life. I can't say enough about this incredible woman. I met Cassie in Cosmetology school and didn't think I really liked her at first. She started hanging out with our group and quickly became someone I got very close to, love it when life surprises you like that.  Most times I have girl friends but I don't have best friends, I'm not comfortable with some girls because let's face it we can be pretty crazy. Haha! You know what I'm talking about. As we began our friendship I noticed how much I enjoyed her company and was accepted into the Fritts family as another "sister." She is now my absolute best friend, one who I can ask or tell anything to and know she will respond with sincere honesty and love. I don't know what I would do without her in my life, even though we live 2,000 miles apart I can still depend on her for anything.

Watching your best friend get married is such a mix of emotions. I'm so glad to leave her with a man that is dependable and will treat her the way a princess should, every girl should have that. But I knew that her wedding day was the last I would see of her. Cassie lived in Tennessee and I live in California now, I had to fly home the next day not knowing when I would see my best friend again. Leaving that night was such a hard thing, but I'm thankful I got to leave on such good terms and see how happy she is with her husband. Parting is such sweet sorrow.

As I was saying, back in August of this year I got to watch her marry Rex Ashbey. Her wedding was out in a beautiful garden setting with pink everywhere. Let me tell you, THIS GIRL LOVES PINK! If it's not in her hair…it's somewhere. We jokingly call her our barbie doll. Her and Rex had a beautiful ceremony filled with all their closest family and friends. The location of this wedding was magical, just look at the pictures!

I love my best friend to the stars and back, and I'm so excited to share her wedding pictures with you. I styled her hair into a half-up half-down look with sexy curls and volume. Cassie has been growing her hair out for a while, but it wasn't quiet long enough for her so we added a few rows of clip in extensions.  This is a good option to add length and volume on your wedding day without any longterm commitment. I used a one inch curling iron and set her hair before doing her makeup. This ensures that her curls will last throughout the night, oh and did I mention that it was around 100 degrees that day? Thank goodness for preplanning her hair and makeup! Holy cow it was so humid and sticky-hot. Anyways, Her makeup was done more on the natural side since she isn't a full face makeup person normally. A good rule is to stay close to what you do on a daily biases, this will make you much happier and not feel like you've overdone it on your wedding day. Cassie looked absolutely beautiful and had an amazing day! Thank you bestie for letting me spend your special day with you!

Above is a picture with her sisters and husband.

I also did one of her sisters hair in this gorgeous curled updo with a braid on the top.

And they lived, Happily Ever After...

Princess ♛ Crown Braid

Princess's should always wear their crown ! Here is a really cute way to dress up your curls this season with a braided crown. In this tutorial I show you how to achieve a gorgeous look with the help of extensions. If your hair is naturally long that's awesome and you don't need to substitute in extensions, but if you have short hair and use extensions I wanted you to have a cute option for a braided style.

This is a very easy look, you don't need crazy braiding skills! Depending on how you style your curls makes this look suitable to wear at any occasion. So for example: if you wear your hair straight or with soft waves like I did in this tutorial, I could wear this with casual attire. If I wanted to wear it to an event or special occasion I could curl my hair tighter for a more dressy look.
I hope you enjoy this adorable braid, and remember to wear your ♛ always!

BLOG DESIGN MAKEOVER!!!

Welcome to my newly designed blog! It's the same blog with the original content, but a fresh new look. Because of the number of views and traffic I've been having, I wanted to step up the overall look and feel to my site.
A few things have changed over the past couple weeks, like the url name was changed from todieforblog.blogspot.com to alexsismae.com. My new domain name was purchased to be more cohesive with my social networks and ease of use. When I originally started my blog I wanted to create a cute name, and now I realize that I like my first and middle name as the "brand" for my channel. It takes the confusion out of searching for multiple things and it's much easier to find my name rather then a long blog name.
Upon discussion with the girls I work with on the Twisted Silver jewelry channel, I shared with them about wanting to change my site. One of the ladies, Hannah from Sherbet Blossom blog, is a graphic designer and creates rather adorable blogs. I asked her to create mine, and design a custom header. She is a beautiful and artistic creator who did a fantastic job working with a picky person (I'm very picky with things), but she developed the exact idea I had in my head and brought it to life. I wanted silhouettes of beauty tools and products with sparkles behind them and a textured background like burlap. My favorite colors are teal, pastel pink, and gray. She nailed the look I wanted, sometimes I might just look up my page now because it's so cute!
I'm excited to finally be able to share this new look with you at the mark of my two year anniversary of blogging (we are still working on a few things that will be finalized today)!!! Thank you so much for all your support and making this a really fun experience. Also, a HUGE thank you to Hannah for making this gorgeous site design

MAC's Matte Finish Lipsticks ❥ Review

Every so often I like to try out new products that I'm not always drawn to. You never know
until you actually try something right? A coworker of mine wore this gorgeous matte lipstick and told me about the MAC Mattes. Brittany wears the Relentlessly Red and Russian Red at work all the time and it always looks so crisp and flawless. If you know anything about red lipsticks, crisp and flawless can be a hard accomplishment. Needless to say, I had to try it!

I first purchased the MAC Retro Matte lipstick in shade Ruby Woo. This is a rich red color with a blue-red tone. Finding the right base tone for your skin color can dramatically change the way you like your makeup. If you're in the market for a red or any shade for that matter, make sure to ask if the consultant thinks it would work well with your skin tone.
Luckily, the Ruby Woo honestly can work for any skin tone because it's a very classic red shade. The video will tell you how they wear, and the other colors I purchased.

I'm so excited about wearing this lipstick and can't seem to put it down. That's big coming from me because I love nudes and glosses because they are low maintenance and easy to work with. Now that I have these new matte lipsticks…it might be a while before I put the nude back on!

A few of my YouTube friends, and girls I am subscribed to, do a video at the end of every month showing their subscribers what they have been loving for the month. Lucky 21- Fashion Purchase

Being a girly girl who loves clothes and anything to do with fashion, I obviously love shopping! I am so excited when companies want to collaborate and send me something to wear and blog about, because let's face it…I LOVE SHOPPING!

We all know of places like Forever 21, H&M, and Charlotte Russe. But what about other stores that have the stylish items at a great price? When I was watching a youtube video from MakeupBarbie, Kelly showed a few things that were sent to her from a cute clothing site called Lucky 21. They sell everything that is on trend like gorgeous boots, military jackets, slouchy sweaters, and event dresses.

I ordered some things from their site right away! First was a undoubtable cute pair of wedge booties that come in a nude color and lace up in the front. They were pretty comfortable when I wore them to church and at work. Surprisingly because the heel is pretty tall. Nothing better then a heel you can wear without secretly dying inside with every step. The material is a sturdy faux leather with some small gold hard wear on the back. The fit of the shoe was true to size, and wore as a comfortable fit. Sometimes shoes can be very narrow and squish my toes, but these form my feet appropriately. I would say the quality is about  what you'd expect from a store like Forever 21.

Then I also got this gold cuff bracelet that has a banged metal texture and opens with a spring hinge. I LOVE this bracelet, it sits so well on my wrist and can be that perfect accent piece to many of my outfits as well as other jewelry pieces.

Overall I'm quite happy with my purchases. I already have a few things on their site that I am adding to my list. This would also be a great place to find Christmas gifts and stocking stuffers! Don't forget to go to the bottom of the page and click on the Coupon tab. This will show you coupon codes to use during checkout.
